Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to schedule visits/care?

Because babies don’t always arrive on schedule, planning postpartum visits can be a bit unpredictable. That said, having support during the first week after birth tends to make the biggest impact. Many families also find it helpful to schedule visits for when a partner or spouse returns to work.

We’ll coordinate scheduling via text, and I like to book a few sessions in advance based on our best guess at the timing. Even if the dates shift, any support—at any stage—can make a tremendous difference.

My available hours are 8-4 with a minimum of 4 hours per shift, with potentially more flexibility during summer hours or upon request.

What does the first visit look like?

At our first visit, we’ll take time to connect and meet your baby and family. We will discuss what type of priorities your family will need during the visits and how the time will be best put to use. The first priority is always checking in on mama—when she last ate, whether she needs rest, a shower, or just a short break from holding the baby.

Together, we’ll set gentle priorities and create a flexible plan for the visit. Each session will look a little different, shaped by the evolving needs of mama, baby, and the rest of the family.

Will you help with other children in the family?

Yes, I love spending time with older children in the family! With my background in teaching and years of early childhood training, I genuinely enjoy connecting with kids of all ages. I’m happy to engage with your children and offer playtime support, especially while holding your newborn so you can rest. That said, I don’t recommend using my services primarily for childcare, as hiring a babysitter would be a more affordable option for that need.

How do meals work?

Meal support can look a few different ways. Some mamas like to have a recipe picked out with ingredients ready to go, or they’ll text me a favorite ahead of time. Others don’t have the bandwidth to think about food—totally understandable! In that case, we’ll chat briefly about the kinds of meals or snacks you enjoy, and I’ll take it from there.

I also have a few nourishing go-to recipes I can suggest. If you'd like, part of our visit can include a grocery run to pick up ingredients.

Keep in mind, many families receive meal support from friends, loved ones, or meal trains. In those cases, it can be especially helpful for me to focus on preparing easy, nourishing snacks like protein bites, muffins, or bedside-friendly options.
